Toronto the not-too-good-at-all

I've been offered jobs in Toronto over the past couple of years and my wife's training for a new and interesting career where some of the best employers are in Toronto. But we'll never move there. Here's another example of the reason why. We have three small kids who will, eventually, end up in high school. As far as I can see, in Toronto there are two choices: Fort Apache public high schools, or private high schools full of rich, disfunctional assholes. No thanks.

Or Catholic high schools....

They're no better than the public ones.

Of course they are.

I don't think so. They send their problem kids to the public system. On the other hand, non-Catholics send their problem kids to Catholic schools believing (hoping?) that there will be better discipline in the Catholic schools. The big Catholic high school near our place has the meanest, mouthiest students, lots of "gangsta" assholes, and plenty of drugs. There are far better public high schools in Ottawa.
Some small-town Catholic schools may be better, but I suppose that's the point of the original post.
