Toronto the Good

Friends, especially those in the media, marvel at how, since I was 24, I've avoided living and working in the media capital of Canada. I save this kind of headline for those brief coversations. (When they ignore that reality, I toss in the cost of living and the sheer ugliness of the place).

I lived in TO for 24 years and moved to O-town nearly 2 years ago. I think TO has its charms, but is vastly overrated. To be fair, given its size, it is still a remarkably safe city, but it's getting worse by the day. Sprawl and inefficient public transit are also huge problems that simply aren't being addressed.

I agree that TO is actually a fairly ugly city. There are some things about O-town I'm not crazy about (crackheads, for instance), but there are some beautiful parts of the city. It's also far more bike/walker friendly than TO.

So in conclusion, I more or less agree with you :-)

Some parts of TO are definitely ugly, some are beautiful, the rest in between.

But at least our hockey team actually plays in our city...
