Reasonable force?

What ever happened to pepper spray?

A taser IS reasonable force when a suspect refuses the command to put down the KNIFE. I can inflict lethal strikes to someone when being pepper sprayed, it would NOT stop me from killing those officers if they didn't shoot me first. For some people, pepper spray is a minor annoyance. Come on, use some common sense, I thought you shook your liberal criminal coddling a long time ago...?

Actually, having been pepper sprayed (along with several skeptical police officers at a police training exercise), I can assure you that it's more than enough to stop most knife-wielding people. If not, you can move up to the taser.

Of course, most but not all and especially so if said person is *cranked* up, which many are in such cases....

You want to pull a knife on officers, I don't mind if lethal force is used, time to clean the gene pool. Heh!

Did you watch Primetime last week? There was video of a suspect in a car who get peppersprayed real good, right in the face. So much so that, the officer backed off and walked towards his car. The suspect pulled a gun and shot the cop 7 times, killing him, all on video.

We'll be well down the "whatever happened to..." list by the time we run out of people against things.

In regard to the first posting...

"I can inflict lethal strikes to someone when being pepper sprayed, it would NOT stop me from killing those officers if they didn't shoot me first".

Really? Pepper spray stops a full grown black bear in a rage? When I was a combat Marine I wasn't someone you'd want to meet in a dark alley if I were looking for you, but...we were peppered sprayed as part of urban assault training and I can tell you it rendered ALL marines combat ineffective. I couldn't see anything for 5 minutes.

But maybe you're you Batman?

Hey, criminals are often higher than a kite when committing crimes. You can withstand a LOT when coked/methed up. It's time to stop the whining and let cops use what they NEED to use to save THEMSELVES and the PUBLIC. And if it means shooting criminals that refuse to put down lethal weapons, so be it....

Pepper sprayed right in the face yet manages to kill the cop as he's walking away... and he's a 140 lbs *weakling*, no marine.

My mistake. Somehow I thought a raging black bear was a bit more ferocious than some guy all methed up. What do I know?

"It's time to stop the whining and let cops use what they NEED to use to save THEMSELVES and the PUBLIC. And if it means shooting criminals that refuse to put down lethal weapons, so be it....

...so let's give the cops even more power, they always do the right thing. While we're at it let's just make it a police state and suspend liberty if that's what the cops NEED, so be it...

I thought we were talking about criminals with knives on foot? not spraying openly into a car and then turning your back without considering the possibility there may have been a gun?

Point being, screw the pepper spray when in serious harm's way. Too many people aren't too greatly compromised by it, especially when high, as most criminals are want to do. I HAVE been willingly pepper sprayed, it would NOT stop me. Taser stopped me COLD.

Freaking use the taser and 100% guarantee everyone's safety....not for the criminal perhaps, but that's a small percentage price to pay to cleanse the dumbass gene pool and keep the officer/public alive.
