Canwest corpsewatch

New all-time low: 29 cents. Then a dead cat bounce to 31 cents.
Meanwhile, the Izzy Mahal got a million-dollar cheque of Sifton money, earned by a family that actually knew how to run newspapers.

I looked at the web page. I'm not sure what you're referring to. I don't think the Siftons have a stake in the Freeps, though they did own it when it was one of the best papers in the world.
Michael sifton, though, is responsible for a lot of the carnage in Ontario's small market papers.

I was talking about the big ginormous tv screen being installed outside their building at Portage and Main. A photo appeared on the Free Press site. Such an installation must cost a few dollars.

Yea. And now you don't have to buy their paper! You can just dress really warmly and stand there on the street.
Meanwhile, I know for a fact that many people in the Freeps newsroom are damn scared they're about to get the chop.

Mark - We need some creative destruction in the media sector. Let's start with Canwest first. They should just dispose of all their non-performing television assets and get back to publishing newspapers. And to take your suggestion, they should actually sell them. If I was their CEO, I would shutdown their canada.com tomorrow!!!!!

The carnage seems everywhere. The Toronto Sun Family webpage has horror stories everyday. Smaller Quebecor papers not publishing Monday, drastic expense cuts and a move to exit CP within the next year.
