How could we have let ourselves lose this war?

They slaughtered 3,000 of our people in cold blood, and we argue over whether it's a crime to run stupid cartoons and nod when we're told it was somehow our fault.
Meanwhile, the new museum at the World Trade Center atrocity site will give the killers a permanent soap box for their propaganda.

Hmmm, a tough one. Whilst I have no sympathy with the "it was the West's own fault" line of thinking, I sympathize with the difficulties of putting together a museum for this event.
Just as I think that "Mein Kampf" is an important text for understanding WWII and the holocaust, so do I think that what the Al-Queda attackers thought is important to understanding 9/11.
